Rin's sacrifice to save Nolan was ultimately in vain as in Dead Space 2, Isaac Clarke was forced to kill Stross in self defense. Because Rin saved Nolan Stross, she inadvertently contributed to the destruction of the O'Bannon, the massacre of its crew and the death of Nolan's family when the Red Marker fragment caused Nolan to hallucinate and see his family as Necromorphs. She died shortly after saving Nolan Stross from falling into the lava which she fell into when the ground that she stood on broke apart. She attempted to calm Kuttner down before his psychotic breakdown which led to the death of Noah Pawling. She was the first to find Nickolas Kuttner after he found a shard of the Marker. Rin was part of the survey team that landed on Aegis VII to look for the fragments of the Marker and during the debriefing in Kuttner's flashback, it was her who mentioned Isaac Clarke. In actuality, she was sent to Aegis VII to look for the pieces of the Red Marker. He followed visions of his deceased daughter that compelled him to destroy the gravity stabilizer and attack engineers Alejandro Borges, Noah Pawling, and Omar Nayim, whom he mistook for alien monsters.Rin was supposedly a surveyor serving on the USG O'Bannon. Kuttner was the first to discover a fragment and suffered a psychotic episode upon touching it. They were to retrieve whatever fragments they could find. A monolith-like artifact known as a "Red Marker" had been found and destroyed on the planet. Isabel Cho, senior scientist Nolan Stross, and surveyor Rin, are informed of the true nature of the mission. The crew thought they were just being sent out to stabilize Aegis VII's failing gravity after a mining accident, but Kuttner and three other crew members - Dr. Dead Space: Aftermath is a film directed by Mike Disa with Animation.
Security officer Nicholas Kuttner is first to give his account of events. O'Bannon was sent to investigate the planet Aegis VII when contact with its inhabitants was lost. Set in the year 2509, one year after the events of Downfall, four survivors from the ship CDC USG O'Bannon are taken in by EarthGov officials for questioning.
